This batch of Sonajero is crafted by the Domingues Mercado Family in Zapotlan El Grande, a townb near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. This ancestral tradition is produced between August and October to commemorated the festivities dedicated to the the patron saint of the town, Saint Joseph. Made from locally cultivated organically farmed pomegranates from the Zapotlan valley macerated in high quality mezcal made from the El Llano en Llamas area of southern Jalisco, where some of the finest agave spirits in mexico are made. Using local varietals of agave angustifolia, the base spirit is of the absolute highest quality. This delicious ponche can be chilled and sipped straight or as a high quality mixing ingredient with any number of applications.
