Notes
Domaine Benedetti was founded in 1930 when Nicolas Benedetti emigrated from Italy to Chateauneuf-du-Pape and purchased land in his new region. Nicolas was followed by his son Noel and Noel's son, Christian. Christian was the first owner of the estate to stop selling wine to the cooperative and began bottling and selling his own wines. In 2000, the Domaine transitioned to organic farming and over the years has slowly expanded their holdings from just over a hectare each in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côte du Rhône, to four hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and ten hectares of Côtes du Rhône vineyards. In 2004, Christian's son, Nicolas, joined the domaine after studying oenology and is now overseeing all the winemaking. And finally, in 2021, we struck up a relationship with the Domaine and happily added them to our Direct Import portfolio. The Larmes Papales is 100% Grenache from old vines from the western part of the "La Crau" lieu-dit.
