William Lane is a tiny winery focused on making wines from "Mediterranean Island" varietals that they belive are perfect for our climate and soils in California. Using the Italian name for a grape more typically called Carignan here in the USA, this is a nod to the grapes many centuries of history in Sardinia off the mainland coast of Italy. Fruit for this wine comes from the granite soils high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at over 2,000ft elevation. The wine was fermented using partial carbonic maceration to give lift and perfume to the fruit. Aged in tank and neutral oak. Such a lovely fresh, easy-drinking wine with wonderful purity and balance.
