"My name is Sophie Guiraudon and I am a winemaker since ZERO generation!," says Sophie proudly. Sophie was working in other peoples' wineries in southern France for years. In 2000, Sophie started her own biodynamic, organic winery. She wanted to grow grapes that her son could eat right off of the vines. The Terrassettes is typically a blend of 72% Carignan, 17% Syrah, 8% Grenache Noir, 3% Mourvèdre. While Carignan can sometimes produce a brooding, earthy wine, Sophie handles this varietal flawlessly. The wine is surprisingly delicate, medium-bodied and dominated by soft red fruits. The earthiness comes more as an undertone in this wine and lends it depth and intrigue. Not only does it pair with an array of foods from red and white meats to veggies and appetizers, it’s also a lovely cocktail wine.
