2021 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Blanc Grand Cru

The domaine’s 2021 Musigny Blanc is also an outstanding young wine. The bouquet offers up a refined blend of lemon, green apple, a beautiful base of chalky soil tones, white flowers, vanillin oak and a lovely topnote of beeswax. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with a fine girdle of acidity, lovely focus and grip and a long, complex and seamlessly balanced finish. I love the backend energy of this wine in 2021!

Note: from a .67 ha parcel of chardonnay An almost invisible touch of wood can be found on the markedly floral-suffused aromas of ripe citrus, and in particular grapefruit, just sliced Granny Smith apples and a hint of crushed fennel. There is excellent volume to the rich and caressing but very punchy large-bodied flavors that flash an almost pungent minerality on the youthfully austere, compact and citrus-inflected finish that is borderline tannic. This is presently very backward and while it's packed with development potential, it's also a wine that will take its sweet time maturing.
