Dyer's Cabernet Sauvignon remains incredibly distinctive even in an unusual year like 2017. Cedar, dried flowers, iron, game and blood orange give the 2017 striking aromatic nuance and depth. On the palate, the wine is a bit less forthcoming though. Readers should plan on giving the 2017 at least a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften. Even in the early going, the 2017 is so enticing. (AG)

Blended of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon plus small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot aged 20 months in French oak, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain reveals a deep garnet-purple color. It leaps from the glass with bold blackberries and black cherries followed by notes of crème de cassis and espresso plus subtle notions of crushed rocks and earth. The full-bodied palate offers a firm, rugged texture with a lively line of acid invigorating the generous fruit and giving a long finish. (LPB)

Deep purple-colored, with lots of pine forest, blue fruits, mountain scrub brush, and violet notes, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Dyer Vineyard is medium to full-bodied, has a tannic, old-school vibe, and displays terrific balance. It needs time, but it’s a classic Mountain Cabernet that will keep for 20+ years. The blend is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that saw malolactic in barrel and 20 months in French oak. 92+
