Int'l Wine Review
The 2022 La Combe Verte was aged in 25% new French oak barrels for 8 months and finished for 2 months in stainless. With a glistening light-lemony core with a silver rim in the glass, it brings pronounced aromas of toasted lemon peel, sweet green apple, volcanic crushed stone, and salty sea breeze. It finishes with a beautiful wet stone note on the mid palate. What an incredible bottle of wine for only $35. 1000 cases made. Best buy.

Wine Advocate
Fruit for the 2022 Chardonnay La Combe Verte comes from five premier vineyards in the Willamette Valley planted on both volcanic and marine sedimentary soils: Freedom Hill, Hyland, Koosah, Sojeau and Witness Tree. It was blended with 2% Aligoté and matured for eight months in 25% new French oak before finishing with two months in stainless steel. It offers integrated tones of matchstick and flint that complement a core of quince paste, peach preserves, meringue, beeswax and cashews. The light-bodied palate is seamless and shimmery, pairing concentrated, honeyed fruit with linear acidity that results in a weightless feel and an ethereal finish.

Wine Enthusiast
The scent of two pieces of quartz striking to start a campfire are joined by aromas of green papaya, saline and a peach galette. The Combe Verte's acidity snaps like a diva, providing the juice to propel flavors like lemon basil, lemon sorbet and grilled peaches. Serve with fish tacos and rule the world.

This is absolutely the best introduction to Walter Scott. It gives you an instant snapshot of what their wines are all about, and it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. Laser focus, lots of smoky flint, struck match, crystalline citrus fruit, wet stone mineral, split white oak, raw almond, toasted barley grains. An explosive, mouthwatering wine that may well suck you into the universe of sexy reductive Chardonnay for eternity!

Email AlexClear and precise, the 2022 Walter Scott 'La Combe Verte' Chardonnay opens with notes of noble reduction: struck flint and matchstick. Give the wine some air and those reductive notes transition into steely aromas of graphite, rock salt, and oyster shell, with white peach, orange zest, honeysuckle, and orange blossom adding layers of complexity. The wine's structure is pulled taut between steely, minerally acidity and a doughy softness lent by full malo. An excellent example of how great Oregon Chardonnay can be.
