1995 Château Tirecul La Gravière "Cuvée Madame" Monbazillac (500ml)

Review Date: 07/2017As good (better??) than the 2001, the 1995 Monbazillac Cuvée Madame is straight up extraordinary juice that is certainly one of the finest dessert wines I’ve ever tasted. A blend of 60% Muscadelle, 40% Sémillon that spent just under three years in new French oak, it offers a heavenly bouquet of orange marmalade, caramelized peach, brioche and honeycomb, a huge, full-bodied, unctuous profile, no weight and a finish that just won’t quiet. If you love sweet wines, I promise, it doesn’t get better. It’s drinking sensationally today, yet I suspect it will have a 50-year lifespan. (JD)
