Yamazaki "Distiller's Reserve" Japanese Single Malt Whisky

The Yamazaki Distillery doesn't release new products very often and when the Distiller's Reserve was release in Japan way back in 2014, we were excited to have a new Yamazaki to sell. It only took about a decade or so for them to release the product stateside. While critics hemmed and hawed about the lack of age statements, the public has embraced this release with gusto. Turns out there are some pretty incredible old whiskies in the blend, and it easily competes with the more expensive 12-year-old. Many will even prefer the richer robust style that the Reserve brings. Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve, Suntory's flagship single malt whisky, is comprised of a blend of American, Spanish, and ex-Bordeaux French oak with some old sherry casks over 18 years old. Each component is expertly blended with the great care that all Suntory whiskies are afforded.
