Fresh and enticing aromas of plums, cherry, blood orange and toasty oak spices. Expansive on entry with deep saturated black fruit. Full bodied with terrific energy and drive and a rich tapestry of mountain tannins that softens with aeration. A lengthy finish is marked by pipe tobacco, cedar, vanilla and smoke. A beautiful cellar-worthy wine. (JC)

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is another dense, powerful wine from this estate. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain, its dense purple/black hue is followed by a layered bouquet of smoky red and black fruits, iron, smoky oak, and chocolate. Full-bodied on the palate, it has a gorgeous mid-palate, building, fine-grained tannins, and a great finish. I followed this bottle for multiple days, and it gained complexity and elegance with air. Do your best to hide bottles for 3-5 years, and it’s going to have 20+ years of overall longevity. 96+

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is plush and sumptuous, yet has enough freshness to balance things out. Dark red plum, raspberry jam, mocha, espresso and a kick of new French oak all meld together. The 2019 saw 40-45 days on the skins, with about 40% of the lots fermented in barrel. Aging was 26 months in French oak, mostly new. This is a terrific example of the house style at its best. (AG)

Hints of sage, bay leaf and tobacco accent cassis and black cherries on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate. A big, full-bodied but well-mannered red, it's concentrated and velvety, almost plush but with enough backbone to suggest cellaring at least a few years. It builds in complexity on the finish, adding nuances of cedar, dried herbs and perhaps a touch of menthol. Yes, it aged 26 months in 100% new French oak, but the wood is remarkably well absorbed and integrated. Impressive! (JC) 95+
