Review Date: 07/2022Looking for a great red Burgundy and not afraid of little-known vineyard names? Here it is! Mind-blowing nose of red fruit with a touch of red-rose and subtle, spicy notes. Stunning concentration, but this is also dangerously silky, the danger being you could forget the rest of the world! Long, lingering finish that’s irresistibly sensual. Drink or hold.

The 2020 Marsannay Les Longeroies is a touch more reserved out of the gates than the Clos du Roy, unwinding in the glass with notes of wild berries, red plums, vine smoke, spices, peonies and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's deep and concentrated, with powdery tannins and a chalky finish.
Cyril Audoin has turned in another superb performance in the 2020 vintage, delivering wines of perfume, energy and precision that transcend stereotypes of their appellation. Marsannay nourishes a number of high-quality domaines, and the village offers rich pickings for wine lovers, but Audoin might well be my favorite. What's more, anyone who laments rising prices in the Côte d'Or should take note of the terrific value this estate's wines represent, because quality at this level should honestly cost quite a bit more. Note: from both the upper and lower climats
Slightly riper yet still appealingly fresh aromas reflect notes of liqueur-like dark currant, warm earth and a touch of anise. The delicious middle weight flavors possess a caressing and velvety texture, all wrapped in a bitter pit fruit-inflected finale that is just as persistent but not quite as complex, at least not yet. *Burghound Outstanding!*
