Batch Three of The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series stands as a testament to whisky innovation, having been matured first in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and then subjected to an additional 18-month maturation in unique Hungarian Virgin Oak casks. Master Distiller Billy Walker's inquisitive nature led him to the Zemplén forest in northeast Hungary, known for its slow-growing oaks with a desirable tight grain, perfect for aging spirits. The barrels were toasted and charred to a medium degree before playing host to GlenAllachie's complex spirit. This method lends a well-balanced, sumptuously unique whisky that offers a silky richness. This GlenAllachie 7-Year-Old Hungarian Virgin Oak is a limited release, with 1,200 bottles reserved solely for the US market. Bottled at 48%, it has been matured in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Hungarian Virgin Oak. As with all GlenAllachie expressions, it is non-chill filtered, with no added colour. True to its golden hue, it bursts with the aroma of butterscotch, citrus and milk chocolate, married beautifully with notes of cinnamon, raisins, orchard fruits, and ginger. The palate unfolds a rich blend of heather honey, cinnamon, chocolate, lemon drops, and caramelized brown sugar.
