Reviewed July 2016Inky purple. Aromas of dark berries and cherry take on hints of violet, licorice and cracked pepper in the glass. Plush and spicy in character, offering lush black and blue fruit flavors that exhibit serious depth along with surprising vivacity. Finishes very long, smooth and sweet, with supple tannins framing the rich dark fruit.

Another big, ripe wine, the 2014 Syrah Jersey Girl Jada Vineyard was co-fermented with 3% Viognier and spent just under 16 months in 60% new French oak and 40% in concrete tanks. Pushing on the ripeness scale, with some chunky, chewy tannin, it offers lots of toasty oak as well as dark fruits, spice and earth. (JD)
