The Clos des Grandes Vignes is located in Premeaux on the eastern side of the route nationale, and its vines were planted in the 1950s. It's very much a Pinot drinker's Pinot, with lots of plush, easy-drinking flavours, smooth tannins and a juicy, palate-caressing finish. (TA)

The 2017 Clos des Grandes Vignes was just a touch reductive when first served, but the wine opens up quite briskly with just a bit of swirling and shows outstanding potential. The bouquet is pure and loaded with sappy fruit, delivering scents of sweet dark berries, black cherries, bitter chocolate, venison, dark soil tones, nutskin, vanillin oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, sappy and soil-driven, with fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and grip and a long, nascently complex and very, very promising finish. 93+

This too is really quite pretty and pure with its relatively high-toned aromas of various flowers, essence of red cherry and soft earth wisps. The vibrant and utterly delicious if not particularly concentrated medium weight flavors deliver possess an appealing and relatively refined mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the youthfully austere finale. *Outstanding*

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grandes Vignes 1er Cru is backward on the nose, the oak initially quite vocal, though it improves with aeration and evinces assiduous stem addition. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a little rustic but full of personality. I’m not sure if this is truly long-term, but I appreciate its almost feral finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. (NM)
