Alenquer is a wine region with a deep and rich history, but like most regions in Portugal they are only now being rediscovered by international enthusiasts. Located North of Lisbon in an ideal location. It is protected from the Atlantic by the Serra de Montejunto and is just east of the Taugus River. It is an ideal terroir with morning fog, warm if not hot days and cooling evening winds. The soils are Calcareous Clay.
