The 2021 Syrah Santa Barbara County is scented of black raspberries, candied blackberries, cracked pepper, smoked meats and green olive. The medium-bodied palate is bright and chalky with restrained yet nuanced fruit and a long, latent finish. I would be inclined to drink it on the earlier side after a couple hours in a decanter, and its freshness will allow it to pair widely at the table.

The 2021 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is fabulous. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, black pepper, herbs, incense and tobacco all build in this racy, almost shockingly opulent young Syrah. This dense, juicy Syrah is lights out. The 30% stems are pretty much buried by the fruit.

Email ScottIf you like Syrah that ticks all of the boxes AND is a great price, here it is! A nose of big cassis fruit and roasted meat scents. On the palate, big and fine, with blackberry fruits, chocolate black cherry, earth, soy sauce. Long and slightly tart finish. As I said it ticks ALL of the boxes and will please people who like funkier Northern Rhone wines, as well as those who like Aussie Shiraz.
