Reviewed December 2020The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, pungent wine. So many 2018s are succulent and open-knit, but the Dyer Cabernet is far from that. It clearly is going to need at least a few years to come together. The aromatics alone are beguiling. Lavender, sage, licorice and inky blue/purplish fruit all come alive in the glass. Readers will find a beautifully complex, savory Cabernet full of character. (AG)

Another classic, Old World styled wine from this estate that needs bottle age, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Dyer Vineyard checks in as a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot. Lots of blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, dried tobacco, and scorched earth-like aromas give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely structured, tannic wine with plenty of mid-palate depth, the purity and freshness that’s the hallmark of the 2018 vintage, and outstanding length on the finish. Give bottles 4-5 years if you can, and it should evolve for 15-20 years or more. It’s a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon that will be enjoyed by the Bordeaux lovers out there. 93+

Aromas of black fruit, dried herbs, pine cones, baking spices and bark. It’s full-bodied with chalky tannins and vivid acidity. Chewy, tight and structured. Firm finish for now.
