Reviewed May 2023The 2020 Pinot Noir Super Chill mainly fermented in puncheons (approximate capacity 0.4 tons each) and always stayed cool as a result. All destemmed and sorted berry-by-berry, each puncheon may take a month to six weeks to finish fermenting. The result is a delicate, detailed offering, with charming notes of ripe strawberries and cherries, plus intricate herbal nuances. It's medium-bodied, nicely silky and streamlined, with a long finish. (JC)

Summer Dreams is Jayson Woodbridge’s exploration of the West Sonoma Coast, created with winemaker Ashley Holland after an extensive search for hillside vineyards distinguished by slope, vine age, and Goldridge soils. “Super Chill” comes from the cool Freestone-Occidental area, where Pacific fog and wind slow ripening, while the region’s fine-grained sandy loam provides excellent drainage. Blending equal parts Pommard and 777 clones, the wine captures the site’s combination of generous Pinot Noir fruit, textural depth, and lifted coastal freshness.
