Reviewed September 2023Fabulously rich and enticing aromas lead with sea spray minerality, and then comes a rush of lemon and lime zest, apricot fruit, and candied ginger with white flowers. A penetrating core of expressive orchard fruit is layered with minerals and crushed almonds. The full-bodied finish reveals aromatic spices of ginger and cardamom. A 100% Chardonnay from West Sonoma Coast and the Freestone-Occidental sub-AVA. Bâtonnage in expensive new French oak barriques and puncheons, aged up to 12 months in François Frères barrels. In 2019, Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre established Summer Dreams, making cool-climate Sonoma Coast Pinot and Chardonnay. Ashley Holland, a protégé of Bob Cabral, works in the cellar and focuses primarily on the white wines of Summer Dreams. A winery for Summer Dreams is being built outside Healdsburg and will be fully operational in 2024. (JC)

Honeyed apple, tangerine, flower oil, toasted almond, and brioche notes all emerge from the 2021 Chardonnay Lazy Lounging, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet remarkably pure Chardonnay that has integrated oak, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and awesome length on the finish.
