Reviewed September 2023 The most brooding and dark of the Summer Dreams Pinot Noirs, with plenty of racy acid to balance the density of ripe, succulent black cherry and black plum fruit. It’s got the salty sea-spray notes of a dark, misty fog rolling into the Sonoma Coast from the Pacific Ocean, and that minerality builds on the palate with an intense soy-like savouriness. The full-bodied finish is equally saline and savoury, and winemaker Jayson Woodbridge tells me it's a wine to enjoy with great Japanese food. I’d settle for miso-marinated black cod – 100% Pinot Noir from West Sonoma Coast, Annapolis, and Fort Ross-Seaview AVAs. Whole berries are fermented in open-top tanks and puncheons with a mix of Demptos and Taransaud barrels. Bottled unfined. (JC)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Twilight has a darker edge in its blackberry and darker fruits as well as notes of black tea, peppery herbs, and a kiss of earthy minerality. Medium-bodied on the palate, with good acidity and a focusing spine of both acidity and tannins, this beauty will benefit from a year or two and shine through 2031.
