Our plump and peachy friend, never quite seems to have the finesse on the first nose, but shows its class later on. There is more depth and body than the Bouchères, a little lemon scent, a weight of deep white fruit, even some fresh apples, and attractive little points of nuanced acidity. Overall, really well balanced and very persistent.

The wine shows aromas of ripe apple and quince, with elements of chamomile and grapefruit. It shows definite presence on the palate, with rich extract and notable persistence on the finish. Lafon's Gouttes d'Or are located on 0.4ha a bit lower on the slope in somewhat heavier clay soils. This brings a richness to the wine that many will find very appropriate in this appellation. (CC)

Dominique's style is the Goldilocks of the Goutte d'Or cuvées tasted for this report. It's crunchy but still round, and it's ripe without being unctuous. Lemon chiffon cake starts off the nose then the palate brings on zinging, minerally undertow. Dominique replanted his 39 ares in 1991, so the vines are almost 30. 2022-35.
