The 2021 Clos Vougeot from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is a simply outstanding young wine. The bouquet is very elegant and pure, offering up scents of red and black cherries, plums, dark chocolate, gamebird, a complex base of soil, a nice framing of vanillin oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, complex, refined and full-bodied, with a sappy core of fruit, excellent soil inflection and grip, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, balanced and soil-driven finish. This is a gorgeous young Clos Vougeot that will demand some cellaring to reach its apogee, but will have a long and stunning plateau of peak maturity. 2035-2100.
