Ripe black fruit aromas on the nose continue on the palate with blackcurrant, black cherry and plum on the palate. Juicy with a lovely soft mouthwatering aspect contrasting the crunchy fruit with a vein of minerality running through. Lovely integrated tannins and a smooth overall mouthfeel. A pleasure to drink and a crowd-pleasing wine. (GH)

Blackberries, dark cherries, currants, chocolate, vanilla and sweet spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Round and juicy with fruity character and a supple finish.

Dating to the 18th century, this estate delivers wines with weight and balanced structure. Wood aging has given the wine shape and density. The dry core will soften over the next years to give a well-built wine. *Editors' Choice* (RV)

Compared to the 2020, the 2019 Château Lamothe-Bergeron is more expressive and complex, with a softer, more rounded mouthfeel. Sweet red and black fruits, flowery incense, spice, and tobacco notes all emerge on the nose, and it's balanced, medium-bodied, and incredibly satisfying.

Well known for it's terroir that is sandwiched in between St-Julien and Margaux, Lamothe-Bergeron is a go-to value nestled in the heart of the Left Bank. The composition varies from vintage to vintage, but most years it is an even split between Merlot and Cabernet, with a bit of Petit Verdot to balance it out. Gravelly and deeply fruited on the nose with hints of cedar and currant, it leads to a palate that is balanced with spicy minerality, juicy blackberry, fine grain tannins, and a long, textured finish. For fans of Bordeaux, this will be a brilliant cellar defender while young, but there are enough layers to hint at a wonderful evolution that will unfold in the next ten to fifteen years with ease.

This is a nicely clean little effort with red fruits with a hint of menthol, minerals. On the palate, darker, with blackberry fruit and a hint of chalkiness. A very easy one to drink right now and it will appeal to a big cross section of people. All in all, a very well put together wine at a great price.

Soft and silky on the palate, with notes of dark plums, cassis, cocoa, hazelnut, hint of graphite, & dried herbs. This delicious wine reminds me how value driven a great bottle of Bordeaux can be!

Notes

Nestled between the terroirs of Margaux and Saint-Julien, the vineyard of Château Lamothe-Bergeron enjoys a privileged location near the Gironde on a gravelly soil. We love this property and the 2019 is one of their best ever releases. It has a beautiful bright color, very dark, plus lots of red fruits on the nose. The ripe tannic structure in the mouth is remarkable, with a lot of fleshy fruit and freshness before the very nice, long and subtle finish. In 2019, the wine is a blend of 45 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 50 % Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
