2019 Lamothe-Bergeron, Haut-Médoc
92
Decanter
Review Date: 03/2022Ripe black fruit aromas on the nose continue on the palate with blackcurrant, black cherry and plum on the palate. Juicy with a lovely soft mouthwatering aspect contrasting the crunchy fruit with a vein of minerality running through. Lovely integrated tannins and a smooth overall mouthfeel. A pleasure to drink and a crowd-pleasing wine. (GH)

Nestled between the terroirs of Margaux and Saint-Julien, the vineyard of Château Lamothe-Bergeron enjoys a privileged location near the Gironde on a gravelly soil. We love this property and the 2019 is one of their best ever releases. It has a beautiful bright color, very dark, plus lots of red fruits on the nose. The ripe tannic structure in the mouth is remarkable, with a lot of fleshy fruit and freshness before the very nice, long and subtle finish. In 2019, the wine is a blend of 45 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 50 % Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
