Maison Drouhin’s les Amoureuses is always one of the finest bottlings to be found in the Côte d’Or, and the 2020 version is going to be another cellar treasure in due course. The bouquet is deep and stunning, with a touch of red fruity elements creeping into its bouquet of red and black cherries, gamebird, a beautifully complex base of soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird, balsam bough and a refined foundation of nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full-bodied and very refined in profile, with a sappy core, lovely soil undertow, fine-grained tannins and excellent focus and balance on the long, pure and vibrant finish. All this beauty needs is plenty of bottle age. (Drink between 2035-2095)

The brilliant 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses wafts from the glass with thrilling aromas of raspberries, bergamot, warm spices, rose petals and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless, it's elegant and fine-boned, with a long, intensely perfumed finish. It's the most ethereal wine in the range this year. (WK)

Vinous

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru, which contains around 40% whole bunch, is very well-defined on the nose with brambly red fruit, wilted rose and iris petals, hints of undergrowth, thyme and rosemary emerging with time. The palate is well balanced, sporting a very subtle garrigue-like element that becomes accentuated both on the nose and palate with time. Tender on the finish. Superb.(NM)

Burghound

Review Date: 04/2022
A more elegant, and certainly spicier, combination freely reveals its aromas of rose petal, lavender, violet, exotic tea, kirsch and pretty essence of red pinot fruit scents. The seductive and super-fine, lacy and seductively textured middle weight flavors exude evident minerality on the dusty, chalky and youthfully austere finale that goes on and on. This beauty of an Amoureuses is already terrific and likely to age accordingly. *Burghound Don't Miss! Outstanding!*

Notes

93-95pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "40% whole bunch vinification for this cuvée. Glowing purple, not too deep, richly plummy, but very harmonious, sweet ripe raspberry with cherry and floral top notes, a gorgeous of Amoureuses with some persistence. Amoureuses so often seems so accessible in youth, but this will also keep very well. Tasted: November 2021."
