Cosimi's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Il Poggiolo opens with an expressive, nuanced bouquet that leads to dark cherries, tobacco, new leather, minerals, licorice and spcies. There is wonderful delineation to be found in the glass. Waves of fruit lead to a powerful finish. Today that tannins are a bit imposing, but a few years in bottle should take care of things. This is an impressive effort from Cosimi. (AG)
