Romano Levi "Barbaresco" Reserva Grappa (750ml)
Notes
For centuries, the Levi family worked as "Grapat" based San Giacomo or Vallespluga, locally called "Val di Giust", in the municipalities of Fraciscio di Campodolcino. Each season they would come down from the Alpine valleys to the wine making regions, to distill the leftovers from wine production. Over 50 distilleries were founded by families from this valley in Northern Italy and Serafino Levi chose the quiet town of Neive to start his. Tragically both he and his wife died very young leaving his teenage son and daughters to run the special distillery. When Romano & Lidia Levi took over the distillery in 1945, they were just kids, but they built on their parent’s reputation for quality and infused a love and art in each batch. Using the highest quality fresh grape pomace from the world's finest wineries, they slowly distilled, as their father had, over direct fire stills. Romano's hand painted labels became the iconic calling card of this extremely special spirit. After Lidia's death in 2010, the village of Neive created a historic working distillery museum(UNESCO site) to preserve the traditions of the Levi family. For the Barbaresco, the grapes are grown on DOCG vineyards in Neive, Barbaresco, Trezzo, Treiso, and Alba.
