Frapin Cognac "1270" Grande Champagne Cognac (700ml)
Notes
This amazing estate is roughly 250 hectares of prime Grande Champagne chalky soils. The estate is planted exclusively to Ugni Blanc and has been in the family since 1270 - hence the name of this release. That's a whopping 22 generations of farming by the same family. The 1270 is their entry level bottling, but blows away higher tier Cognacs from many other houses. It's a beautiful expression of fruit, florals, and oak. Their young spirits go into new (or maybe lightly used) oak for roughly 6 months before beginning a complex journey of maturation in older wood in both humid and dry cellars. The most important thing to note about the 1270 is that it follows the exact same process of production as their coveted Plume and Extra bottlings follow in their first few years of life. It's no less a great Cognac than its much more expensive bretheren, it's just in the early stages of development. Excellent for sipping or cocktailing as your pleasure dictates.
