A tantalizing combination of lemon sherbet, elderflower, pear and violet aromas combine in the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc TWR. This young, zesty expression almost fizzes in its vivacity, but there's more to it than that: an element of texture has been built through the light body (14% barrel fermentation may have something to do with that), providing welcome depth and curving the edges. Email lindseyoharaThe 2021 Sauvignon Blanc from TWR is one of the best wines I have had out of Marlborough, and it's no wonder why it is one of K&L's best selling wines. The 2021 vintage offers everything from zesty citrus and fresh herbs to fleshy stone fruits with a complex mineral finish. The palate is silky and luscious but there is also a subtle salinity with great acid. This wine is well balanced, pure and just absolutely beautiful. At $19.99 it will fly off the shelves, do not hesitate to grab a case and enjoy during the hot summer days to come. Cheers!

Email KirkYou know a wine is special when it conveys two contradictory sensations at the same time. That is what the nose does for the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc from TWR. It at the same time has a very expressive open knit quality. It is expansive, light and very complex. But at the exact same time those expressive fruit tones have a density to them. My first impression of this wine is that it is light with all sorts of delicate fruit, floral and herb tones it pushes out of the glass and then all of the sudden the fruit darkens and rapidly becomes very dense, almost pulling you into the glass. What and F’in great nose. Oh and by the way, I cannot remember the last time that I wanted to describe a NZ Sauvignon Blanc as pretty, but this is a pretty wine. That initial impression of lightness carries to the palate, this is a lighter wine than previous vintages. It is mouth watering but soft at the same time. And that density shows up again, but this time as persistence to the flavors. The wine is almost effortless, you swallow it and it blossoms, literally. Flowers, soft herbs, delicate apple, soft citrus tones and a stoniness linger, and linger and linger. Wow. How much is this wine? Where is it from? Are you sure? How much of this did we get? F yeah! This wine just made my day.

Email ThomasI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Te Whare Ra is making the best wine in Marlborough. Hard stop, full stop. The 2021 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough is K&L’s best-selling Sauvignon Blanc not just from New Zealand, but from anywhere. Made by Jason and Anna Flowerday, Anna is an award winning winemaker and her husband Jason is the most in-demand viticulture expert in Marlborough. Crafting their wines from the best Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in Marlborough, they are pillars of the winegrowing community in Marlborough and champions of organic viticulture. The 2021 vintage in Marlborough was small, but stunning. Frost decimated the vineyards in the early part of the growing season, but the vines recovered, putting all their energy into the small crop that survived. The results have been exceptional. Bold ripe fruit with phenomenal cut and balance. TWR’s 2021 Sauvignon Blanc is the best I’ve tasted from this tiny, but excellent vintage. This wine is pure elegance: passionfruit, ginger and citrus abound with the tension of crisp acidity and profound depth; an stunning rendition of Marlborough’s best Sauvignon Blanc.
