Founded in 2015, by sisters Teresa and Ana Monturiol Jalón, from a long line of distillers starting with their great-grandfather Francisco. In the hills of the Sierra de Guadarrama, surrounded by undisturbed national park northwest of Madrid, their goal is to capture their sense of place and way of life inside the bottle to transmit it to the rest of the world. Gin Monti was developed by meticulous tasting and blending trials of aromatic materials, 15 in all, which are cold macerated in grape spirit before being carefully distilled on a tiny copper pot before being cut with the soft local water to 82 proof. Expect lavender, olive leaves, orange, lemon or licorice all indigenous to the Mediterranean basin, plus many of the classic london dry flavors you'd expect.
