This secretive estate has become the darling of Armagnac lovers since it's closure in the early 2000s. The stocks were purchased by the prominent Armagnac bottler, L'Encantada, and sold for many years as "Domaine Le Freche". L'Encantada did not buy the brand name and felt it was not fair to include the domaine's good name on their bottlings. The Domaine's own bottlings had become very sought after since the sale of the stocks made the label nearly impossible to find. The connection between the two would not have been made clear were it not for the sleuthing of two long time K&L customers - Adam Clary & Steven Hirschauer. Their dogged pursuit led us to the source. It took another 2 years searching for the family to confirm that they had indeed sold the stocks to L'Encantada. Just three casks, reserved for personal consumption, remained in the family's possession. But our enthusiasm for their incredible products convinced them to release a portion of the last barrel of '89. This incredible vintage has been well explored under the L'Encatada label. Other small portions of older vintages may be available in the future as they've stored many in glass bonbonne (demijohn) for their personal use. Only 270 bottles of this exceptional armagnac distilled by an itinerant distiller in 1989 from 100% baco and aged unblended in barrels fashioned from trees felled on the property and bottled without chillfiltration or additions of any kind.
