Review Date: 10/2020This blend of grapes from a series of village-level parcels is by far the largest production at Grivot and it is just what you would want from a Vosne-Romanée. Lieux-dits include Aux Champs Perdrix at the top of the slope, Aux Réas, as well as others further down from the premiers crus. The blend delivers very expressive red berry fruit, firmly grippy tannins and a velvety texture on the palate that is a delight. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039. (CC)

Dense rich purple, the nose has stayed classic, very promising. Very good balance here, gains energy through the middle and finishes on adequate acidity. All in a pure fresh red fruit. Given that the Griots so not pick early it is good to see the classic qualities of this Vosne-Romanée.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village was quite closed at first when I tasted it from barrel, opening gradually to show crushed strawberry and morello cherries and touches of pressed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with plump tannins on the entry, mulberry and wild strawberry fruit flavors, and a touch of black olive toward the saline finish. Compact at the moment, it will require 3–4 years in bottle. Very fine.- By Neal Martin

Reduction presently masks the underlying fruit though there is very good freshness to the delicious and richer medium weight flavors that possess a velvety texture on the saline-inflected finish that delivers fine length. This will need to add depth to merit the upper end of my projected range.

Email ScottI've been a fan of Jean Grivot for many, many, years and this 2019 does not disappoint. From a savory nose of cooking spices (think a "rub" for pork roast") with red cherries and dark strawberry. Dry and bright, with minerals, red cherry and cranberry fruit. Lively acidity and generous tannins. Will age magnificently in the cellar. If drinking early on, decant for a couple of hours. It is definitely worth the wait!
