2019 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin "Vieilles Vignes"

Decanter
Review Date: 10/2020From 1.2ha spread over a number of parcels at the foot of the slope on either side of the Route Nationale. The vines here were all planted in the 1930s and the gentle destemming, fermentation and moderate use of new oak have produced a wine with an expressive, floral-scented aroma of ripe cherries, and a texture that is silky yet dense, with an impressively long finish for a village-level wine. Drinking Window 2021 - 2034. (CC)

Notes
90-93pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Heady intense purple, marvellous intensity to the bouquet though today it is a little more reserved than the Côte de Nuits-Villages. We are back into classic intense Denis Bachelet territory. Very linear once again, the raspberry backed by darker fruit, a minor barrel inflection making the finish a little firmer. Tasted: November 2020."
