This is thanks in large part to the efforts of Ken Swegles who lives on and looks after the vineyard. Ken who founded Rhizos Viticulture is regarded as one of the best growers in business. He looks after dozens of small vineyards in the mountains, but lives literally in the vineyard at Ascona. MarBeso winemaker, Colin McNanny and Ken and longtime friends and each year Colin drives from LA to Santa Cruz to pick and collect his fruit from Ascona and share a few bottles of great wine in the process.
