Enticing aromas of ripe berry, chopped herb, new leather, tobacco and a whiff of eucalyptus all mingle together on this gorgeous, vibrant red. The stunning, savory palate boasts juicy red cherry, pomegranate, white pepper and star anise while firm refined tannins and vibrant acidity lend structure and balance. It's already extraordinary and elegant but also young and primary, so give it time to fully develop. *Cellar Selection* (KO)

Opulent aromas of plum, dark berry, flower and sandalwood. Full body. Dense yet vivid and energetic. Wonderful exotic character and intensity. Great finish.

The prestige of Montosoli is on full display in the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino from Altesino. A gorgeous mélange of black raspberry and dried cherry is perfectly complemented by violet florals and hints of crushed stone. It flows across the palate with silken textures and polished red and black fruits, while an underscoring of tactile mineral tones adds an almost salty edginess toward the close. The 2013 finishes long and staining, now only gently tannic, leaving notes of licorice and spice that linger on and on. There’s a sensation of generosity here, yet also a balance that will carry it for many years to come. What a beauty. (EG)

Balsamic notes of juniper, sage and eucalyptus are buried underneath the cherry and plum fruit in this expressive, supple red, which is dense and well-structured, with excellent balance and a long iron and saline aftertaste. Just a tad richer and broader than the blended Brunello. *Collectible* (BS)

Notes

97 points, Ian d'Agata - Vinous: "Good full pale ruby-red. Knockout aromas and flavors of red cherry, raspberry, licorice and minerals, complicated by hints of iris and violet. Extremely suave and polished on the extremely long, pure, mineral finish. Deeper, richer, more tannic and longer than the lovely 2013 Brunello Classico from Altesino, this is an absolutely beautiful Brunello. I especially like that the pristine, refined aromas and flavors of the famed Montosoli site are showcased to maximum effect here. One of the best Brunellos of the vintage." (04/2018)
