In 2020, Larkmead estate in Napa Valley celebrated its 125th anniversary and released this special cuvée to mark the occasion. The wine is a blend of 48% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. Winery tasting notes: "Crushed, preserved blackberry is the leading aroma and the bouquet slowly opens to reveal more earth tones – the woodiness of a wet forest floor and an almost cedar-like influence from the new French oak barrels. On the palate, the Merlot in this wine is open and supple, while the Cabernet Sauvignon adds tension and texture. The middle of the palate weaves between chocolate covered cherries and blueberries until espresso bean and pencil lead erase the sweetness of the candy and the fruit."
