2019 Ceritas "Occidental Vineyard'' Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
95
Vinous
Review Date: 01/2022The 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Vineyard is bright and effusive. Blood orange, exotic spice, mint, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and dried herbs lend notable aromatic presence. Behind that is a deep core of fruit that is going to need time to unwind. The 80% whole clusters are evident, but not intrusive. Planted in 1978, these are believed to be the oldest own-rooted Pinot vines in the West Sonoma Coast. I would give this a few years to soften. (AG)

Notes
Audrey Frick for Jeb Dunnuck on the producer: "Helmed by founder John Raytek, Ceritas was established with their first vintage in 2005. Today, 14 wines are produced from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, all from dry-farmed historical sites poised to channel the style the team wants to create. Each of the sites is farmed organically or biodynamically." (07/2023)
