Vinous
Reviewed January 2022The 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Vineyard is bright and effusive. Blood orange, exotic spice, mint, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and dried herbs lend notable aromatic presence. Behind that is a deep core of fruit that is going to need time to unwind. The 80% whole clusters are evident, but not intrusive. Planted in 1978, these are believed to be the oldest own-rooted Pinot vines in the West Sonoma Coast. I would give this a few years to soften. (AG)

Wine Spectator
This beauty sparkles with savory, anise and red tea notes that stretch out steadily, while the core of bitter cherry, damson plum and blood orange fruit flavors asserts itself subtly. The savory edge adds focus and length to the finish, along with a subtle mineral note. Long and refined. (JM)
Notes
Audrey Frick for Jeb Dunnuck on the producer: "Helmed by founder John Raytek, Ceritas was established with their first vintage in 2005. Today, 14 wines are produced from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, all from dry-farmed historical sites poised to channel the style the team wants to create. Each of the sites is farmed organically or biodynamically." (07/2023)
