Absolutely no indication, despite my best efforts, of the true source for this stupendous old Speysider. Honestly anything Speyside in this age range is worth $200 these days, but this cask is particularly lovely. It's kind of a no brainer and I'm surprised it hasn't sold out completely considering there is much high praise for the already release UK/EU version of this bottling, but we'll have a taste for good measure. The color is old gold. The nose has a very old school vibe and while I have difficulty not spending my energy trying to guess where it might be from, it's precisely the style I want out of a Speysider of this age. Gorgeous just under ripe white peaches, almond candy, yellow cherries, mint, cedar, the tiniest hint of some old shellac. On the palate it's rich and waxy with sweet yellow plums, oily pine resin, spicy ginger, wild honey, dried herbs and some tropical fruit. A truly lovely and utterly drinkable old malt of the highest order.
