Reviewed October 2020Fine fresh lemon, discreet, but there are some little dancing fruit notes just starting to come out. This certainly has the length, and the fruit content, and the mineral thread. Noticeably longer than the straight Meursault.

As the 2018 Désirée had already been racked and assembled for its winter in tank prior to bottling, we started out our tasting of the white wines here with this bottling. The wine is really quite lovely and elegant in 2018, offering up a classy nose of apple, a touch of tangerine and pink grapefruit, chalky soil tones, hazelnut, spring flowers and a whisper of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and quite shapely, with a good core, a nice signature of soil, bright acids and very good length and grip on the long finish that closes with a note of salinity. Good juice. (Drink between 2020-2040)

A ripe bouquet of honeyed peaches, pears, beeswax, toasted almonds and white flowers introduces the 2018 Meursault Désirée, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping wine that's ripe, textural and sumptuous, with succulent acids and a long finish. While the Désirée always has huge upfront appeal, it is often also deceptively age-worthy. (WK)

The 2018 Meursault Désirée, matured for 12 months in barrel and 4 months in tank, has an intense bouquet of dried honey and touches of white peach and walnut. I would have liked a little more delineation but it has an engaging purity. The palate is balanced with a concentrated opening and rounded in the mouth, offering a touch of spice and tropical tones toward the voluminous finish. Lacks a little grace, but packed full of flavor. (NM)
