The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous wine full of soul and character. Layers of dark red cherries, flowers, mint, licorice and tobacco emerge from the glass in this large-scaled, deeply expressive wine. Despite its size, the wine has plenty of vibrancy and freshness. The weight of Castelnuovo dell'Abate comes through in spades. This is a great showing from Vasco Sassetti. The 2007 spent three years in cask. (AG)
