This delicious new cask strength High West American Prairie was finished for 8 months in a single barrel of Carcavelos. This extremely special wine made near the beaches south of Lisboa was all but lost to antiquity before its recent rediscovery. Only three tiny producers are left of this rare sweet wine. Stylistically it's somewhere between Madeira and Oloroso sherry, but the unique flavors and old barrels are the perfect flavors to compliment this incredible bourbon. Deep rich dried fruit, pungent juice red berries and an altogether exotic sweetness add further depth to the already excellent cask strength blend of bourbons. Easily one of the most exciting barrel finishes we've ever seen on American whisky. Only 126 bottles came out of this special barrel.
