Aromatic, this red exudes cherry, raspberry, rose, spice, iron and game aromas and flavors backed by a vibrant structure, with well-integrated acidity and tannins. The acidity is what keeps this focused and drives the long aftertaste. Best from 2026 through 2045.

Dense rich purple, exciting, with a heady nose showing a touch of reduction. Really rich deep black cherry fruit, this is a power monkey but I still like it. There is a wonderful juicy energy that will give a great deal of pleasure, especially to those looking for a richer style of pinot.

Dense aromas of black cherry, plum, earth and whiffs of wood and the sauvage give way to sleek, delicious and detailed flavors that are finer but not denser, all wrapped in an equally attractively textured finish that is more structured. This too is very good for its level plus it should reward up to a decade of cellaring. *Outstanding*

Aromas of wild berries, smoked meats, orange rind and rich soil tones introduce the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, layered wine built around powdery tannins and lively acids. (WK) Bertrand Chevillon reported yields some 50% below average in 2019 but was justly delighted with the quality of the wines. This is another powerful, structured vintage at this address, but the wines are more vibrant than the fine 2018s and more structurally refined, too. As I've written before, this is one of my favorite addresses in all of Burgundy. Old vines, cultivated soils, moderate yields and long fermentations with entirely destemmed grapes are the order of the day at this address, with the Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes seeing some 20% new oak and the premiers crus 30%. Nuits' Tonnellerie Sirugue is the dominant supplier of barrels. (WK)
