This estate, touching Pauillac, belongs to the Bernard family, also owners of Domaine de Chevalier. Rich tannins and wood aging have given intense spice to this wine that is bold, rich and concentrated. The vivid, ripe black fruits will calm down as the wine ages further, giving a balanced, smooth blend. (RV)

The 2018 Peyrabon has a very agreeable bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and briary aromas, the oak nicely integrated and feeling natural. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and crunchy red fruit tinged with cedar and pine. It is a bit 'chunky' on the finish, but I admire the freshness and substance, and the oak is judiciously used. Good winemaking, good wine. (NM)

Sweet black cherry and blackberry fruits, with good balance and freshness on the finish. Mouthwatering, with touches of grilled rosemary, pepper and woodsmoke. A consistent success rate at this property that is owned by Millésima négociants. Vineyards of gravel and sand soils over a clay subsoil. (JA)

Blackcurrant, tea-leaf, mocha and some praline aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, tight-grained tannins. Flavorful and structured.

Here is a delicious value filled with jammy raspberries and earthy black cherries. The wine is lively and sweet with a juicy middle of cherry syrup and a finish of herbs and flowers. Very ripe tannin suggests some ageing potential.

Notes

A property very close to Pauillac that is one to watch for great values. Well-made, value-driven wines with good depth and length. This 2018 is exceptionally good, with lots of red roses on the nose. Cassis flavors and fine finish—all this for $16! We sold over 3,500 bottles of their 2009 (which is coming back in) and many bottles of their 2001.
