The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is showing very nicely from bottle, offering up a youthful but already expressive bouquet of citrus oil, pear, blanched almonds, pastry cream and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, it's elegantly textural, with fine concentration, tangy acids, and a precise, mineral finish. While this Perrières is already deceptively charming, if it gains in depth and complexity with bottle age as much as I suspect it will, this score may seem conservative. (WK)

The 2018 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru comes from 1.2 hectares over three different parcels. It has an intense bouquet of crushed rock, pressed yellow flowers, hints of nectarine and yellow plum that develops with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite gentle and very pretty for a Perrières, leading to a caressing, pineapple- and passion-fruit-tinged, waxy-textured finish. Whiffs of matchstick, lemongrass and mineral reduction are present on the cool and equally pure essence of pear aromas. The middle weight flavors flash even more minerality while the mouthfeel is also very classy on chiseled, very dry and youthfully austere finale. This will need a few years to further flesh out and develop better overall depth. *Outstanding*
