This is a fine Champagne—fruity and with a touch of almonds. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes leads to a harmonious richness that is balanced by the tight acidity at the end. (RV)

Smoky lemon and orange oils on the nose. Long, rusted-iron acidity and nutmeg spices. A salty tang that is not so very far from sauerkraut brine, but with the sweetness of dried apples and apple peel, and it works – it's integrated. Serious and spicy, challenging, burnished and dense. (TC)

Email JohnNamed in reference to its extremely long aging on the lees (11 years), the Autolyse is a massively complex and elegant beauty. Overdelivering in spades, this underpriced Champagne brings loads of toasty character, with fresh citrus, honey roasted almond and ripe stone fruits. Sporting extremely fine bubbles, this is another home run from the team at Le Brun de Neuville.

Email PhilipWow, wow, wow! Everything about this champagne is wow! If you're searching for a perfectly balanced bubbly with a deep royal autolytic profile, this is the one! Not only that, but it's from a part of Champagne -- the Cote de Sezanne - that is notable for two reasons. First, not many wines from the Cote de Sezanne are exported to the United States, and, two, though southwest of the famous Epernay, this little Sezanne outpost has similar chalky soils that impart an unmistakable minerality to the final product. Aged sur-lie for over a decade, the result is a toasty, mineral driven, champagne of finesse and elegance. I can't say enough about how unique and special this beautiful brioche bomb is! Pair with pate if you want your head to explode!

Email AlexThis extensively aged, Pinot Noir dominant champagne is replete with the luxurious elements you are used to paying much more for: honey, almonds, dried apricots and citrus, and a rich toasty brioche with tiny bubbles. Treat yourself to an excellent offering from one of our favorite direct import cooperatives.

Notes
This exceptional blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay is called Autolyse for its extraordinary time on the lees: more than 11 years! This very toasty, complex Champagne comes from old vines in the chalky Sezanne. We only were able to aquire five cases. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
