Ruth and Tom Jones founded Moraga in 1978, with their first commercial vintage in 1989. The blend includes a small amount of Merlot, and is aged in 100% new French oak. A tiny, 9.5-acre vineyard (5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc) is planted on some of California’s most expensive real estate, the sloping hillsides composed of limestone and sandstone in Bel Air. This is the visionary project of Ruth and Tom Jones, who founded this vineyard in 1978, and had their first commercial vintage in 1989."
