After Fred Minnick placed Woodinville Bourbon 3rd in a blind tasting behind Michter’s 20 and Pappy 23, people took notice. We’ve been singing Woodinville’s praises since they launched in CA nearly two years ago and that early relationship has afforded us unprecedented access to single barrels. When barrels are made available for CA, we get the first shot at tasting them and can secure the cream of the crop. Everything that goes into the single barrel program is a standout barrel to begin with, but the two we’ve selected are superlative. Everything was going right the day they distilled these - the barrels were filled one after the other. Barrel #2555 picked up a bit more proof in the aging than #2556 and tips the scales at 61.38% ABV. The nose is sweeter and more candied. The palate is rich and round and finishes with a long, dry, oaky finish. A big boy bourbon for sure.
