Exciting aromas of gingerbread, grapefruit, caraway, pear skins and crushed almonds. Hints of salted caramel and pie crust. Medium-bodied, with beautifully integrated bubbles and delicious spicy pastry notes. Long and flavorful.

The Domaine Carneros “Cuvée de la Pompadour” Brut Rosé is made from a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir. The wine is a pale salmon color and delivers a refined bouquet of wild strawberries, tangerine, a touch of rhubarb, white soil tones, bread dough and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and focused, with a good core of fruit, fine soil signature, frothy mousse and a long, complex and nicely balanced finish. This is drinking nicely now, but my gut feeling is a couple of years of aging in the cellar will allow another layer of complexity to emerge.

Cuvée De La Pompadour, a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, is aged 18 months in-bottle sur lie and has a 0.9% dosage. It bursts with zesty pink grapefruit and vibrant, fresh crunchy cherries. Notes of vanilla pastry cream, honey, and perfectly balanced toasted brioche and flint create a delightful finish. I adore this wine. When Domaine Carneros’ pioneering winemaker Eileen Crane retired in 2020, I feared change, but this remains as fabulous as ever—consistent, familiar, and truly la vie en rose.

Founded in 1987 by the family behind Champagne Taittinger, Domaine Carneros was established when Claude Taittinger selected a 138-acre parcel in the heart of Carneros. Winemaker's Notes: "The Domaine Carneros Cuvée de la Pompadour Brut Rosé, celebrates the life and times of Madame de Pompadour (the great courtesan and mistress of Louis XV) who is credited with introducing Champagne to the court and was an influential tastemaker in the matters of art, architecture and philosophy. Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé is a wine of great balance, emphasizing fruity and floral characteristics to a greater extent than evident in the Brut or Le Rêve. It is made strictly with artisan attention to quality, with sourcing exclusively from Carneros and the use of time-honored Champenoise methods of production. A blend of 58% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay, the Brut Rosé is meant to be enjoyed at a fairly young age, when the fruity character is still predominant yet there is enough age to make the wine round and balanced. The wine's aroma has hints of wild strawberries and roses with notes of peach Although a pale pink in color, Brut Rosé is not sweeter than our other wines. It is a true Brut."
