Maximin Grünhaus is a historic Ruwer estate near Trier, famed for spicy, mineral-driven Rieslings from its contiguous monopole slopes—Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg—all classified as Grosse Lage. First recorded in 966 under the Benedictine abbey of St. Maximin (with Roman-era finds on site), the property has belonged to the von Schubert family since 1882. Steep blue-Devonian slate and south-facing exposures shape long-lived wines; Riesling dominates plantings, with small amounts of Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc.
