This creamy Champagne has aromas of dried apples, brioche and honey. It’s medium-bodied with gentle bubbles and a silky finish. 51% chardonnay, 32% pinot noir and 17% meunier. (CN)

The NV Brut La Réserve is a blend of 51% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir and 17% Pinot Meunier. Reserve wines from 2015, 2016 and 2018, which make up 41% of the blend, complement the 2019 base. Rich shortcrust pastry on the nose comes with the tiniest bit of smokiness. The palate presents smooth, tart yet ripe apple flesh and a touch of honeyed evolution with beautifully smooth, almost calm mousse. Suppleness, lovely brightness and a chalky backdrop make this an elegant proposition. (AK)

The base year of the NV Champagne La Reserve Brut is 2021, and it is a blend of 57% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir, with the rest Meunier. Spending four years on the lees, the wine has a brilliant pale yellow hue and is attractive and fresh, with lively notes of pear, white peach, candied citrus, and fresh Pepperidge Farm shortbread cookies. Medium-bodied, it’s approachable, charming, and quite appealing, a delightful aperitif to enjoy and pour by the case. (AF)

This one of the toastiest, richest Champagnes, and I love the brioche, beure d’Issigny and Meyer lemon curd in this Champagne. I find that the hazelnut-like fruit of Verzenay stands out in this bottle. I love this as an apéritif, and I think it would also do very well with an equally decadent meal such as lobster. A toast to you!

Notes

This is a relatively new Champagne house, a cooperative in fact, established in 1947 by seven families of growers. Their focus is on fruit from the mountain of Reims, and this Champagne is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 10% Meunier and aged for a minimum of four years on the lees.
