Review Date: 12/2017Similarly colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Grace Benoist Ranch Heirloom is gorgeous stuff from the Carneros appellation. The 2014 Pinot Noir Heirloom is a collection of nine different clones from two parcels on the ranch. Powerful dark fruit, sweet French oak, game and licorice shape this intense Pinot. There is good depth in the glass, even if some roasted notes and heavy oak toast flavors dominate. All of the 2014 Pinots all show the clear effects of the drought in their intense fruit and structural profiles, but the Heirloom has just enough inner sweetness to balance the intensity of the tannins.
